At Epworth Villa, we plan activities that are requested by residents. Due to popular demand, Kari King will provide a one-on-one computer classes on our campus again. This class will be more of a one-on-one class for beginners and will focus on Facebook. Thank you, Kari for hosting another class. Our own Jessica T. will serve as an Associate Chaplain. Jessica has been with Epworth since 2013. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Southern Arkansas University and is completing a Masters of Divinity at Saint Paul School of Theology. Prior to coming to Epworth, she has worked at Camp Tanako and served as a pastor at a Methodist church in Chidester, Arkansas. We anticipate that Jessica will assume the Chaplain role in January of 2017, when she graduates from seminary.

March Resident Spotlight: Meet Roberta

Roberta and her husband, Dave, met in the 6th grade when sitting next to each other at school. They grew up in Philadelphia and lived in Shamokin and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, before relocating to Oklahoma City when Dave accepted the position of Vice-President for Development with the University of Oklahoma.

Oklahoma City Symphonic Band Concert Outing

We are excited for an upcoming outing to The Oklahoma City Symphonic Band Concert "Side By Side" performance at Oklahoma City Community College. OKCSB will host the engaging Oklahoma Youth Winds in a joint concert Tuesday, February 23rd. This unique honor ensemble is made up of talented high school wind and percussion students who perform challenging music. At Epworth Villa we believe fall prevention is important, this is why we created a Balance and Fall Prevention class. Our class offers education on prevention of falls and getting up from a fall. Our Wellness and Rehab departments have teamed up to provide our Independent Living Residents the opportunity to participate in the Senior Fitness Testing. We will test residents in about six areas of fitness and strength ability. Then we are able to compare results to a national average for the age of each resident tested. Rev. Scott Spencer to lead Epworth Villa's vespers service

Our preacher for this Thursday, February 4, is Rev. Scott Spencer. He grew up in Enid and graduated from Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. After serving a number of churches, mostly in rural Oklahoma, he received training in starting new congregations. He is now the Senior Pastor of Mosaic United Methodist Church here in Oklahoma City. That is a new church started last June in a merger of two unique progressive churches. They currently worship in the chapel at Oklahoma City University. Read More

Tamesha McCoy, LPN became the Care Coordinator of Epworth Villa’s Assisted Living September of 2015. Chapel Hill United Methodist Church is home to the Reverend Jennifer Ahrens-Sims. She is the associate pastor there and will be in our pulpit this coming Thursday. Reverend Ahrens-Sims is a Provisional Elder in the Oklahoma Annual Conference. Prior to coming to Chapel Hill, she worked on the staff at Saint Paul School of Theology at Oklahoma City University.
